Schools, Activities & Family Life
Clay County is a safe, easy-going place where you feel comfortable
letting your kids play outside and walk to school. Parents here know
their children’s friends — as well as their children’s friends’ parents
— and there are plenty of extracurricular activities to keep kids busy.
We boast an excellent school system, which was rated in a recent survey of residents as one of the county’s greatest assets. Over the past several years, Unified School District 379 has earned numerous awards for grade-level achievement and recently scored at the highest level, the standard of excellence, on 36 out of 50 state-mandated assessments.
USD 379 has an exceptional “parents as teachers” program for parents of children under three years of age and also offers early childhood development preschool.
The district has a curriculum-driven, technology planning committee, a district-wide network and an excellent resource website. The site features a Power Schools interface that gives parents access to up-to-date grade and progress information, as well as online access to their children’s teachers.
