Middle of Nowhere Fair in Oak Hill

If you live in a small town or rural area, you are familiar with the phrase “middle of nowhere,” which usually implies, “Why would you live there?” Those of us who live in the middle of nowhere definitely know it’s somewhere and is filled with people, activities, feelings and friendships that we love and rarely give up willingly. To us, our little community is a state of mind, as well as a place to live.

To celebrate rural small-town living, Oak Hill presents the first-ever Middle of Nowhere Fair on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Now Oak Hill only has 34 residents, give or take, but our tiny city has 2 thriving shops, Blackberry Mercantile and Oak Hill Pottery. Our former gym will have booths selling Kansas-made products, antiques and small collectibles. The Presbyterian Women will be selling food, drinks and baked goods. So come celebrate the rural life in a town that is not accepting the rural decline but opening new businesses. We are located in rural southwest Clay County along 9th Road.
