Though our communities range from small to smaller, Clay County provides the same level of infrastructure, community organizations, shops and services enjoyed by larger communities.

Clay County is home to numerous church communities and houses of worship, catering to a variety of denominations and faiths. So chances are, no matter what your beliefs, you’ll find a church family that will gladly welcome you.

Clay Center’s Carnegie Library, for example, has a 40,000-book catalog, maintains over 90 magazine subscriptions and is part of a 12-county library collaborative that shares books and resources. Incidentally, both the library and the Clay County Courthouse occupy spots on the National Register of Historic Places.

For flight enthusiasts, the Clay Center Municipal Airport lies just two miles west of Clay Center and is open to the public. Locally owned and operated, the Clay Center Municipal Airport has provided fuel, fun and a place for passers-through to rest their wings for over 60 years.

In addition, the county lies within 25 miles of the Manhattan Area Technical College, Kansas State University and Cloud County Community College, providing easy access to a wealth of continuing education possibilities.

You can also enjoy the serenity of small-town life while remaining connected with some of the most sophisticated information technology available anywhere. By the end of 2008, Twin Valley Telephone will be providing 95% of Clay County homes with fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP), making possible a level of broadband Internet, digital television, and telecommunications service that is rare even in the largest metropolitan areas.

Along those lines, when it comes to staying connected, Clay County also provides you with the latest in news and information, both local and national. The Clay Center Dispatch, Clay County’s local newspaper, is published Monday through Friday and covers a wide range of local and national news. Clay County is home to two radio stations, KCLY “The Lynx” 100.9 FM and KFRM “The Voice of the Plains” 550 AM. The Lynx 100.9 FM provides original talk shows, great sports coverage, the latest news, and music everyone can enjoy. The Voice of the Plains 550 AM gives listeners the best in agricultural trends and weather developments, as well as sports and news coverage.
