How to Obtain a Marriage License

 

 INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING A MARRIAGE LICENSE

Either person may make application for the marriage license. When you come in to apply you will need to provide both parties Date of Birth and Social Security Number. There is a THREE (3) day waiting period, after application is made, before you may pick up the license. For Example:

Application made on Monday: the license may be picked up on the following Thursday or any workday thereafter.

Application made on Tuesday: the license may be picked up on the following Friday or any workday thereafter.

Application made on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday: the license may be picked up on the following Monday or any workday thereafter.

OUR OFFICE HOURS ARE FROM 8:00 AM TO 4:00 PM

Either person may pick up the license, please come to the District Court Clerk’s office before 3:30 p.m. WE WILL NOT PROCESS A MARRIAGE LICENSE IF YOU DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE 3:30 P.M.

THE WORKSHEET MUST BE SIGNED BY BOTH PARTIES.

THE FEE FOR THE LICENSE IS EIGHTY ($85.50) CASH ONLY!

After the marriage ceremony, the ORIGINAL LICENSE is returned to the Court for recording by the person who performed the ceremony. You may obtain a certified copy of your marriage license through the Clerk’s office in which it was returned. The cost for certified copies is $1.25 per copy. You may also obtain a copy of your marriage license through the Bureau of Vital Statistics, Topeka, Kansas.

 

If you wish to be married by the Judge you may make an appointment with the Judge, the fee for the ceremony is determined by the Judge.
