DID YOU KNOW there is an East Egg Hunt this Saturday? Don’t miss the Big Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 11 starting at 10 AM at Dexter Park. Toddlers through 5th graders are encouraged to attend. DID YOU KNOW there is a Chevrolet Poker Run this weekend? The Chevrolet Dealer Poker Run is being sponsored by the Heartland Corvette Club. This is open to ALL Chevrolet vehicles. The cost is $20 per vehicle. This includes two meal tickets to the “Hamburger Feed” at the end of the poker run. The event will start at 8AM at Murdock Chevrolet in Manhattan. They will arrive at Jim Clark Chevrolet in Junction City around 10AM. The next stop is Green Team of Clay Center around noon and lunch will be provided for anyone interested in stopping by to check out the Chevrolets (courtesy of Green Team). The next stop will be Lee Chevrolet in Frankfort at 2PM and they will end at Brown Chevrolet in Wamego around 4:00. There will be drawings for prizes at each participating dealer location. The Poker Hand Pay-out will be at the evening BBQ. All proceeds from this event will benefit Kirby Barrett, who is fighting colon cancer, and lives in Wakefield. DID YOU KNOW that Orange & Black Pack is planning a work day at the Stadium? The Orange and Black Pack have planned a work day for April 25th at Otto Unruh Stadium. They would like this Spring Clean Up to be a community project, so please bring your scrapers to scrape the bleachers, brooms, shovels, paint brushes, and rags. They will be starting at 9:00am and it will be a “come and go” event as time permits. The idea is to get the stadium in shape before the CCCHS Graduation on May 17th. All help will be greatly appreciated.

DID YOU KNOW that Clay Counts is hosting a Clay Counts Town Hall Meeting? Come find out what Clay Counts is doing to decrease underage drinking in Clay County! John Bitinas, Director of Drug Education, Narcanon Arrowhead in SW Oklahoma will be the guest speaker at the Clay Counts Town Hall Meeting, plus there will be information on Clay Counts programs & initiatives. Plan to attend, tonight Tuesday, April 7, 2009. A light meal will be provided at 6:15pm with the program following at 7:00pm at the Clay Center United Methodist Church – Family Life Center (5th & Clarke) Everyone is encouraged to attend & child care will be available

DID YOU KNOW Clay Center Presbyterian Manor is having their annual banquet? The Clay Center Presbyterian Manor banquet is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28th from 5 – 7:30pm at the Methodist Family Life Center. Tickets for the meal are $7.50 for adults, $4 for children 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free. There will also be a chance to win a quilt or one of four $100 savings bond. DID YOU KNOW CCMC Lunch Bunch will be meeting soon? The CCMC Lunch Bunch will meet on Thursday, April 23 at noon in the Education Centers. Guest Speaker will be Barb LeClair from the Kansas Health Institute and she will be discussing “Hunger & Nutrition among Seniors”. Barb is an expert genealogist and is involved with research and community work focusing on hunger and nutrition among the elderly. Lunch is $5 and reservations are required by calling 632-2144, ext. 1.

DID YOU KNOW that the Community Chamber Orchestra is preparing its second and final “Agriculture and the Arts” multi media event? This events will be presented twice on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 4:30 and 7:00 pm at the Clay Center Rex Theater. This year’s show will feature over 600 digital photographs of Clay County farming and community life, shown on the movie screen as the Orchestra plays a wide selection of American popular music. Tickets are $5/person or $13/family. Also individuals, organizations, and businesses can sponsor a framed photograph from this year’s event to be place in a local business or public location as the permanent photography exhibit. For a donation of $100 or more, Individuals and organizations can donate through the Clay County Arts Council, and businesses can donate as advertising directly to Community Chamber Orchestra, and will receive the photograph for their business location and credit on the Orchestra website under “Sponsors.” Orchestra musicians are youth through adults, and play without a conductor. DID YOU KNOW that Conservation Financial Assistance applications are due April 10th? Applications for financial assistance funded by the State of Kansas to implement conservation practices will be taken at the Clay County Conservation District through Friday, April 10th. A wide range of practices are offered through the programs, including erosion control on cropland, improvement of pasture and rangeland, and practices to address water quality threats from livestock feeding sites, failing septic systems and abandoned water wells. Developing or updating a conservation plan is a good first step to help producers schedule conservation practices and obtain cost sharing. For assistance or more information, contact Clay County Conservation District located in the USDA Service Center at 610 5th Street in Clay Center or by calling 632-3550.

DID YOU KNOW that the Clay Center Pilot Club is taking orders for geraniums? You can order red, white or pink geraniums for $3.50 each to be delivered April 22. Call any member of call 632-5390 to order a geranium today. The Pilot club meets at Maury’s on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from noon to 1:00pm and welcome visitors and new members.

DID YOU KNOW Rotary meets every Thursday? Rotary will meet on Thursday, April 9 at noon at the Clay Center Country Club. The guest speaker will be Doug Tippin of the Riley County Historical Society, who will be giving a presentation on Rural Barns. The luncheon starts at noon and the public is invited to attend.
