Commissioner Spicer, Commissioner Mayo, and Commissioner Thurlow were present at a regular meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. The minutes were approved as printed. Monthly bills in the amount of $78,995.39 were reviewed and approved.
The Board reviewed and approved refunds 08R19 – 08R20 in the amount of $788.16.
Vernon McGee, McGee Roofing, met with Board to review several estimates for the wind and hail loss on the county owned buildings.
James Hedstrom and Darla Brown, US Cellular, met with the Board and answered questions on the cell phone plans that are available through US Cellular.
Mike Scott, Scott’s Electronics, met with the Commissioners to discuss the choices and the plans that are available with Alltel. Jerry Mayo made the motion to accept and stay with Alltel with a few changes to the plan. David Thurlow seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Dana Rickley, County Health Administrator, informed the Board that the Medicare Cost Report will be reviewed this week. Mrs. Rickley also gave an update on the H1N1 flu. There are 22 confirmed cases in Kansas, with a new one reported in Ottawa County. The Board granted permission to place an ad to fill the position of an RN Nurse.
Chuck Dunn, Sheriff, met with the Board and gave his weekly report. Tornado sirens, cell phones and the use of the Emergency Services Academy building were reviewed.
Steve Liby, Highway Administrator, met with the Board. Many township roads and bridges were reviewed. Mr. Liby reported that there will be a lot of grass growing on roadways with all of the moisture that we have received. The time period for hauling sand and the laying of asphalt was discussed.
The Board adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
