2008 Election Information
Primary Election-Tuesday, August 5th
General Election-Tuesday, November 4th
Registering to Vote:
Registration closes fourteen (14) days prior to each election.
Primary Election deadline is July 21st.
General Election deadline is October 20th.
You may register at the County Clerk’s office or download a Voter Registration Application and mail to the County Clerk’s office.
To register, you must be a United States Citizen, Kansas resident and you must be 18 years of age to vote.
Three Voting Options in Clay County:
Voting in Person by Advance
You do not need an excuse to vote early. Advance voting for the Primary Election begins July 16th and ends August 4th at noon. Advance voting for the General Election will begin October 16th and ends November 3rd at noon. Extended hours for advance voting will be announced at a later date.
Voting by Mail in Advance
To vote by mail you must complete an Application for an Advance Ballot. Your completed application must be received at the County Clerk’s office by the Friday prior to the election. Submit your application early to avoid delays!
Your completed ballot may be returned by mail or hand delivered to the County Clerk’s Office. The ballot must be received at the County Clerk’s office before 7:00 p.m. election day.

Voting hours at the polls Election Day is 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
