WAKEFIELD FIRE WORKS!

You can spend the 4th of July in Clay County. Wakefield will be having their fireworks in the City Park at the ball field on the 4th at dark. The Lions Club is also having a cookout and a band from 5-8pm. They will be serving hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, baked beans, chips & drink for only $4.00. Proceeds will go to the Lions Club Scholarship Fund. Plan on staying in Clay County this weekend by spending Friday in Clay Center and Saturday in Wakefield.

OFFICES CLOSED INDEPENDENCE DAY

Some businesses will be closed on Friday in observance of Independence Day. Clay County and the City of Clay Center offices will be closed on Friday. Banks will be closed on Saturday. You might want to check schedules of local businesses before planning to conduct your business on Friday. Have a SAFE & Happy Independence Day.

DETOUR

Detour will be closed this Saturday. Detour meets at Common Ground Ministries, 709 5th Street in Clay Center and is usually open each Saturday evening from 7pm – 10pm for all middle school and high school students. However, in observance of Independence Day, Detour will be closed on Saturday, July 4th.

REX THEATRE MATINEE

DID YOU KNOW the Rex Theater will be showing a matinee this weekend? The Rex Theater will be showing Disney Pixar’s UP. An excellent family film about Carl Fredricksen who spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year old Junior Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life. UP will be showing Friday, July 3rd at 2:00pm and 7:30pm; Saturday at 2pm ONLY and Sunday at 7:30pm. Stop by the Rex to enjoy a movie and popcorn with the family. Ticket prices are always a low $5 per person.

Lion's Club

The Clay Center Lion’s Club meets every Tuesday at noon. If you are interested in becoming more involved in the community, you might want to check out the Clay Center Lion’s Club meeting on Tuesday, July 7 at noon at Maury’s. Visitors are welcome.
