DID YOU KNOW Incentives are available to qualified businesses based on the location of the facility, type of facility (manufacturing or non-manufacturing), capital investment made, and number of jobs created. Some of these incentives expire December 31st, 2011. If you are planning to expand your facility or purchase equipment that will create new jobs call the Clay County Economic Development office at 632-5974.
DID YOU KNOW Pinsetters Bowling Center has a youth league Saturday mornings? The league will start Saturday, September 10th. Youth ages 5-18 are welcome. This is a great way for kids to learn a lifelong sport. Come join us Saturday, August 27th from 11:00 a.m. to noon to see what our youth league is all about. DID YOU KNOW United Bank & Trust will Stuff the Bus with common school supplies and classroom items to help districts, teachers and students to combat critical school budget cuts. We need your help!!!! Each bus will contain “Wish Cards” that lists common school supply items. To get involved, pick up a “Wish Card”, purchase the item, and return it to the bank. All donations will be given to local schools. Plus, United Bank & Trust will offer a chance to win Chamber Gift Cards to those who participate. With each donation an individual makes, they will be entered in the drawing for a $50 Gift Card or two $25 Gift Cards. From now until September 16th, United Bank & Trust will act a donation site for the supplies and classroom items.
DID YOU KNOW you can still enroll in soccer? Deadline is September 1, 2011- forms will not be accepted after that date. The cost is now $22.50 per player ($45 per household max. Return the soccer forms to United State Bank, Clay Center Information Center, or the City of Clay Center.
DID YOU KNOW School enrollment is next Monday-Wednesday? Enroll on Monday, August 8, from 8:00AM-4:00PM, Tuesday August 9th from 12:00NOON to 8:00PM; and Wednesday August 10th from 7:30AM-3:30PM.
DID YOU KNOW Some local businesses will “ax the tax” on August 11,12 and 13th? Plan your before school shopping for this weekend and avoid paying any taxes you purchase from the participating businesses. More information to follow.
DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Chapter of the Cowboy’s for Christ will host the EKHA (Eastern Kansas Horse Association Show) at the Clay County Fair Grounds Arena, Saturday and Sunday August 13 & 14? Saturday’s events start at 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Sunday’s events will start at 9:00 am with a Cowboy Church starting at 8:30 am. The scheduled competition will include, English Pleasure, Western Lead line, Western Pleasure, Men’s & Ladies Stock horse, men &Ladies Quarter bred, and many more competitive events to include keg and pole bending and barrel racing. DID YOU KNOW Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Republican River Chapter's is having an August "Sundae" Social & Identity Theft Program? It will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 325 E. 8th Street, Concordia, Ks beginning at 1:00 p.m. The chapter leaders of the Republican River Chapter invite you for a Sunday sundae, drinks and fellowship. You'll also hear a short presentation from Thrivent on "Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft" a program that will benefit all ages. DID YOU KNOW there is a Motivational Program on August 16th? This will be held at the Family Life Center, from 1:30PM-3:00PM. DID YOU KNOW Cub Scout Pack 55 and the Clay Center Girls Scouts are holding their Fall Registration on August 20th at 11:00AM at the Clay Center Methodist Family Life Center. This year the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts are joining forces to host a Minute to Win It Competition for all boys and girls in the 1st through 5th grades. Medals will be awarded for the top 3 places in each category and free hotdogs, chips and soda will be provided. You do not have to currently be a Scout to participate and there is no obligation to join, so come on out and test your skills. Do you think you can stack 5 dice on a popsicle stick held in your mouth in under 60 seconds, you won't know unless you try!
