DID YOU KNOW Clay County Economic Development Group, has a new Director? Lori Huber is our new Director. Stop in to welcome her to our community.

 

DID YOU KNOW  Clay County Medical Center's Living With Cancer Support Group will meet on Wednesday, July 13 from 5:00PM to 6:00PM in the hospital's education centers?  For more information call Sally Chestnut at 785-632-2144.

 

DID YOU KNOW there is a summer reading program Wakefield Library for preschool through 3rd grade?  Each story time will include books, crafts, games, snacks and a fun take home prize. This is held Fridays from 1:00PM-2:00PM ,  July 15, and July 29. There will also be project for older grade school kids and four free prize drawings for adults.  Sigh up at Library or call 461-5510 LIBRARY HOURS: Monday & Wednesday 1-7 PM Friday & Saturday 10 AM TO 4:30 PM

 

DID YOU KNOW Clay County Medical Center's Stroke Support Group will meet on Tuesday, July 19 from 10:00AM – 11:00AM in the hospital's education centers?  Survivors of stroke, family members and friends are welcomed to attend along with all interested persons.  For more information call Brenda Bohnenblust at 785-632-2144.

 

 

DID YOU KNOW The Chamber of Commerce is having Clay Days? For more information, visit http://www.claycenterkschamber.org/. This one is being held on  Friday July 22nd - 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, Saturday July 23rd - 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Interested Vendors please call 632-5674. Mark these dates down on your calendar if you are planning on attending!

 

 

DID YOU KNOW the 2011 Clay County Fair is coming soon? It will be held from July 20-24th, at the Fairgrounds. The Carnival will run from 6:00PM-10:00PM, Thursday July 21st through Saturday, July 23rd. Sunday July 24th will be a rain day only. Armbands for unlimited rides will be available at a discount price of $15 – available at Carver’s Countryside Market, or the Extension Office in Clay Center, thru Tuesday July 19th, and then until 5:00PM each day during the fair (Wednesday through Saturday) at the Fair Office on the fairgrounds.  Armbands will also be available at the regular price from Great Plains Amusements. There are lots of other activities, Rodeo, races, 4-H events -For more information, see the Dispatch, as well as pick up a Clay County Fair book around town.

 

DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Masonic Lodge #134 is holding a Child Identification Program at the Clay County Fair at the Clay Center Fair Ground 12th and Bridge St. weather permitting? They are going to do 2 events this year at the fair. The dates will be on Thursday July 21 from 5:00PM – 8:00 PM and Friday July 22 from 5:00PM – 8:00 PM.

 

 

DID YOU KNOW The Clay County Resource Council is sponsoring a “Back to School Fair” on August 6th from 9:00AM-11:00AM? This will be in the Common’s Area of the High School.  Community informational booths, school required immunizations and fun activities will also be available the day of the fair.  Families that qualify for free or reduced school lunch can get free school supplies and a backpack.  Please pick up applications at the following locations: Pawnee Mental Health, Head Start, Early Head Start, or Clay County Health Det. Application deadline is July 26th.

 

DID YOU that Project Lifesaver is now available in Clay County through the Sheriff's dept in cooperation with the Pilot Club?    Anyone who has a family member with Alzheimer’s, autism, down's syndrome or other dementias which might cause them to wander and get lost,  please call Jeanne Stitt,  at  632-3574 for more information on this program.

           

DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Farmers Market is back on Saturday’s from 8:00AM-11:00AM on the West Side of the        Courthouse? The Market will be every Saturday from May 7th- October 29th.  We will also have a Wednesday market from 5:00PM-7:00PM, starting in June and July, on the East side of Dexter Park. We are a producer only market, what this means is our vendors can only sell what they grow. DID YOU KNOW the Chamber of Commerce has a weekly community coffee?  They will meet on Wednesday mornings at 8:00AM.

 

DID YOU KNOW the Rex Theatre shows movies each week? Showing Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30PM is “Cars 2” Rated G. Owen Wilson once again voices speedy race car Lightning McQueen in this peppy sequel to the animated hit Cars. When he heads off to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix, Lightning also rolls straight into a case of international intrigue. Showing Thursday at 7:00PM is “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” Rated PG 13. The third installment in Michael Bay's trilogy travels back to 1969's historic moon landing, when Neil Armstrong and his Apollo 11 cohorts touch down in the Sea of Tranquility ... and discover what appears to be a downed Transformers craft. Flash forward to the present and the Decepticons are ready to exact revenge on Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots. Shia LaBeouf returns as Sam Witwicky, the Autobots' human ally. DID YOU KNOW Weight Watchers meets every Tuesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church 1330 15th Street? Weigh in is between 5:30 – 6:00PM, the meeting starts at 6:00 and goes to 6:30. For new members there will be a short Getting Started session after the meeting.
