DID YOU KNOW United Bank & Trust will be displaying copies of advertisements for movies coming to the local theatre’s from 1919 through the mid 1950’s from the Clay County Museum?  The public is invited to stop by United Bank & Trust lobby during bank hours 8:30 to 4:00 Monday through Friday, until June 17th.

 

 

DID  YOU KNOW there will be a fundraiser for John Arganbright this week? A fundraiser has been planned for John at Ray’s Apple Market on Thursday, June 9th & Friday, June 10th from 11:00AM to 7:00 PMand on Saturday, June 11th from 11:00 AM. to 2:00 PM.  We will be serving sloppy joes for $1.50 each.  An on-air auction will also be held on 100.9 FM, KCLY on Friday, June 10th beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Republican River Chapter #30307 is graciously providing $500 in matching funds for John. While John and his wife Corrine have health insurance, they have a pretty high deductible to meet, and there are so many expenses that insurance doesn’t cover.  He will also be without his income for six months.  Anyone wishing to make a donation to John can do so be sending it to: John Arganbright, %Citizen’s State Bank, P. O. Box 10, Waterville, Ks  66548-0010.  Anyone wishing to help with the fundraiser, or donate items to the auction, please call Linda Underwood at 785-632-0369 (cell) or 785-632-6233 (home) after 6:30 p.m.

 

 

DID YOU KNOW The next deadline to order pickets for the Dexter Park Playground Project - Safari Run is Friday June 17th, 2011.  Please stop by the Information Center located at 517 Court Street in Clay Center to fill out your order form.  Hurry!! space is limited. 

 

DID YOU KNOW Summer reading program Wakefield Library for preschool through 3rd grade.  Each story time will include books, crafts, games, snacks and a fun take home prize. Fridays from 1-2 PM , June 17, July 1, July 15, and July 29.

There will also be project for older grade school kids and four free prize drawings for adults.  Sigh up at Library or call  461-5510 LIBRARY HOURS: Monday & Wednesday 1-7 PM  Friday & Saturday 10 AM TO 4:30 PM

DID YOU that Project Lifesaver is now available in Clay County through the Sheriff's dept in cooperation with the Pilot Club?    Anyone who has a family member with Alzheimer’s, autism, down's syndrome or other dementias which might cause them to wander and get lost,  please call Jeanne Stitt,  at  632-3574 for more information on this program.

           

DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Farmers Market is back on Saturday’s from 8:00AM-11:00AM on the West Side of the        Courthouse. The Market will be every Saturday from May 7th- October 29th.  We will also have a Wednesday market from 5:00PM-7:00PM, starting in June and July, on the East side of Dexter Park. We are a producer only market, what this means is our vendors can only sell what they grow. DID YOU KNOW the Rex Theatre shows movies each week? Showing at 7:30PM, , Saturday and Sunday, is “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ” Rated PG 13  Cunningly clumsy Capt. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) meets his match when mysterious beauty Angelica (Penélope Cruz) forces the pirate to join her in search of the Fountain of Youth in the fourth installment of the humorous and action-packed "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. Sparrow tries to determine whether Angelica is friend or foe while the riotous adventure sets him aboard a vessel belonging to the fearsome pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane).
