NEW ITEMS for June:  

 

DID YOU KNOW the sale and discharge of fireworks runs from June 27th thru July 4th in Clay Center? They can be shot between 9AM and 9PM on those days. Only on July 4th will the be allowed to be s hot from 8:AM to midnight. On July 5th, fireworks can be sold; however they can not be shot off on that day. Remember Bottle rockets and other skyrockets that are mounted on a stick or wire, are illegal. Also it is illegal to shoot fireworks on or under a vehicle, on ANY public roadway, any park or public place within the city, within 50 feet of a fireworks stand or where fireworks are stored, and gas station or any place where liquid gas including propane, is stored.

 

DID YOU KNOW United Bank & Trust is having their TENTH annual All-American Celebration and Community Appreciation Cook Out, “Go 4th with United Bank & Trust” on Thursday, June 30 from 11AM to 1PM  They will serve hamburger, hot dogs, chips, ice cream, cookie and a drink.

 

DID YOU KNOW you can come go to Campbell Field on Friday, July 1 for the First Annual Clay Center Futures Games!  The doubleheader will start at 6pm and will feature the 13U Clay Center Orioles (who played in the Wildcat League in Manhattan this year) versus the 14&15 Orioles (who are playing in the K-18 League this year).  If you are a baseball fan or supporter, we encourage you to come by the ballpark for awhile and take a look at our young and upcoming talent!

DID YOU KNOW Summer reading program Wakefield Library for preschool through 3rd grade.  Each story time will include books, crafts, games, snacks and a fun take home prize. Fridays from 1-2 PM ,  July 1, July 15, and July 29. There will also be project for older grade school kids and four free prize drawings for adults.  Sigh up at Library or call  461-5510 LIBRARY HOURS: Monday & Wednesday 1-7 PM  Friday & Saturday 10 AM TO 4:30 PM

DID YOU that Project Lifesaver is now available in Clay County through the Sheriff's dept in cooperation with the Pilot Club?    Anyone who has a family member with Alzheimer’s, autism, down's syndrome or other dementias which might cause them to wander and get lost,  please call Jeanne Stitt,  at  632-3574 for more information on this program.

           

DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Farmers Market is back on Saturday’s from 8:00AM-11:00AM on the West Side of the        Courthouse. The Market will be every Saturday from May 7th- October 29th.  We will also have a Wednesday market from 5:00PM-7:00PM, starting in June and July, on the East side of Dexter Park. We are a producer only market, what this means is our vendors can only sell what they grow. DID YOU KNOW the Chamber of Commerce has a weekly community coffee?  They will meet on Wednesday mornings at 8:00AM.

 

DID YOU KNOW the Rex Theatre shows movies each week? Showing is “Bridesmaids ” Rated R  Named her best friend's maid of honor, down-on-her-luck Annie's competition with a fellow bridesmaid, the wealthy and beautiful Helen, threatens to destroy the wedding. Meanwhile, a local cop takes a liking to Annie. Staring Kristen Wiig, and Maya Rudolph.  Also showing is “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” Rated PG 13. The third installment in Michael Bay's trilogy travels back to 1969's historic moon landing, when Neil Armstrong and his Apollo 11 cohorts touch down in the Sea of Tranquility ... and discover what appears to be a downed Transformers craft. Flash forward to the present, and the Decepticons are ready to exact revenge on Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots. Shia LaBeouf returns as Sam Witwicky, the Autobots' human ally. DID YOU KNOW Weight Watchers meets every Tuesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church 1330 15th Street? Weigh in is between 5:30 – 6:00PM, the meeting starts at 6:00 and goes to 6:30. For new members there will be a short Getting Started session after the meeting.

DID YOU KNOW a fundraiser for Justin Jostlin who was injured in an accident in March? A fundraiser is being held at Kier’s Thriftway on Thursday, July 7th and Friday, July 8th from 11:00AM to 7:00PM and on Saturday, July 9th from 11:00AM to 2:00PM.  We will be serving ham sandwiches for $1.50 each.  The auction items will be displayed in the window of Ginger’s Uptown, 721 5th Street in Clay Center. There will also be an on-air auction on KCLY on Friday, July 8th beginning at 1:00PM.  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Republican River Chapter #30307 is graciously providing $500 in matching funds for this fundraiser.

 

DID YOU KNOW the Clay County Museum is having a Photo Show on July 30th-August 8th? Monday thru Saturday they will be open 10AM-5PM, and Sunday open 1:00PM-5:00PM. Admission is $3.
