            DID YOU KNOW you can still purchase Pickets for the Dexter Park? Stop in the Information Center at 517 Court to fill out the form. Pickets are $55.

           

            DID YOU KNOW Studio "D" is donating 20% of their retail sales beginning May 2nd through Saturday, May 7th to the Relay for Life.       Also Laura Michael's Salon is doing hair cuts on Thursday, May 5th from 9:00AM to 2:00PM. with all the proceeds going to the Relay for Life.

 

            DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Farmers Market is starting back up on Saturday May 7th from 8:00AM-11:00AM on the West Side of the    Courthouse. The Market will be every Saturday from May 7th- October 29th.  We will also have a Wednesday market from 5:00PM-7:00PM,          starting in June and July, on the East side of Dexter Park.             DID YOU KNOW Clay Center Business and Professional Women will host the 2nd annual Glamour and Glitz for Gals on May 7, from 9:00AM         to 3:00PM at the United Methodist Church Famiy Life Center- in Clay Center.  Vendor applications will be taken until April 15.  In addition to the     vendor booths, BPW members will have breakfast and lunch items for sale as well as baked goods.  Questions may be directed to Emma Brownell at      632-2801.  The event is open and free to the public. Note location change!!

            DID YOU KNOW May 7 at 7:30AM  Wakefield Pride Breakfast will be held  @ “Mom’s Hill Top “?. A representative from each organization    urged to attend.  Volunteers will be receiving certificates if name turned in by an organization.

           

            DID YOU KNOW The 2nd half property taxes are due by May 10th.  Due to a computer software issue, the due date that printed on the             payment           coupon is May 11th.  Payments received or postmarked through May 11th will be accepted without penalty.  For more efficient processing             please   return the payment coupon with your payment.  Payments may also be made on-line by going to www.kansas.gov/propertytax.  If you have any         questions call the Clay County Treasurer’s Office at 785-632-3282 or send an e-mail to cytreasurer@claycountykansas.org. 

 

 

WEEKLY EVENTS/MEETINGS

 

DID YOU KNOW the Chamber of Commerce has a weekly community coffee?  They will meet on Wednesday, May 4th at 8:00AM

 

DID YOU KNOW Parents as Teachers Play Group meet every Wednesday 9:30AM-11:00 at the District Gym on Prospect, behind CCCHS. All play groups are open to any family that has a child between 0-3 years old. Older siblings are also welcome. There will be no Play Group when school is not in session.

            DID YOU KNOW the Rex Theatre shows movies each week? Showing at 7:00PM, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday  is “THOR” Rated PG 13       Kenneth Branagh directs this Marvel Comics-inspired action flick about the thunder god Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful warrior whose father, Odin    (Anthony Hopkins) --   the king of Asgard -- forces him to live among humans on Earth and learn humility. Once there, he finds a friend (Natalie Portman),   along with unexpected enemies sent from his world from his world. Kat Dennings, Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd and Rene Russo co-star. Coming on May 26th with         be “KUNG FU PANDA 2” More details will follow.

DID YOU KNOW the Clay Center Lion’s Club meets every Tuesday at Noon? Lions will meet on Tuesday, May 3rdth.

 

DID YOU KNOW Weight Watchers meets every Tuesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church 1330 15th Street? Weigh in is between 5:30 – 6:00PM, the meeting starts at 6:00 and goes to 6:30. For new members there will be a short Getting Started session after the meeting.

DID YOU KNOW Clay County Medical Center's Living With Cancer Support Group will meet on Wednesday, May 11 from 5:00PM to 6:00PM. in the hospital's education centers.  For more information call Sally Chestnut at 785-632-2144.

DID YOU KNOW Clay County Medical Center's Stroke Support Group will not meet in May.  The group will meet on Tuesday, June21.  Survivors of stroke, family members and friends are welcomed to attend along with all interested persons.  For more information call Brenda Bohnenblust at 785-632-2144.

DID YOU KNOW Clay County Medical Center's Lunch Bunch will meet on Wednesday, May 18 at noon in the hospital's education centers. Come hear about Project Lifesaver.  A public safety program designed to locate and protect missing persons due to wandering (Alzheimer's, Autism, Down Syndrome, Developmental Disorders).  Lunch is $5 and reservations are required by calling the  Mark A. Chapman Wellness Center at 785-632-3929, ext. 427.

            DID YOU KNOW  May 22nd Riders for the VN Wall, about 300 will be coming from Goodland, KS and arrive @ KS Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial     about 4:45PM  @ Heritage Park 6th & Washington St, Junction City.  Memorial service 5:30 PM.  We need 300 volunteers to hold the flags furnished, to line Washington St on both sides of the the street...........As the riders come come into town.  The volunteers will pick up their flags from the       white trailer @ 4 pm at Heritage Park . The bikers will be feed by the American Legion and will be camping in the camp ground.  If any of you can stand   and hold a flag. DID YOU KNOW Clay County Medical Center's Breastfeeding Education class will meet on Monday, May 30 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. in the hospital's education centers.  It is open to all mothers and family members interested in learning more about breastfeeding.
