DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center baseball program is selling Nike t-shirts. The shirts are gray with black lettering and say CLAY CENTER BASEBALL. The shirts are being sold for $15 with the profit for each shirt ($5) going to help with upgrades at Campbell Field. DID YOU KNOW you can still purchase Pickets for the Dexter Park? Orders can be made until June 3, then will start again in September. Stop in the Information Center at 517 Court to fill out the form. Pickets are $55.

DID YOU KNOW Yamaha artist and Grammy-award winner Akua Dixon performs electric cello with Community Chamber Orchestra, Friday, May 27 at 6:30pm in Morganville's downtown historic stage (or in the Morganville School in the event of inclement weather). There also also still auditor openings ($15 each, which includes an individual night ticket) to observe Akua's improvisation workshop at 1:30-2:00 in the Morganville Community Room. The night concert tickets are $6/person or $15/family. Photos with Akua Dixon can be ordered from Michelle Tessaro after the concert. Sponsors can still donate toward this unusual event. DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Farmers Market is back on Saturday’s from 8:00AM-11:00AM on the West Side of the Courthouse. The Market will be every Saturday from May 7th- October 29th. We will also have a Wednesday market from 5:00PM-7:00PM, starting in June and July, on the East side of Dexter Park. We are a producer only market, what this means isour vendors can only sell what they grow. Come out and get the freshest produce in Clay County! DID YOU KNOW Clay County Medical Center's Breastfeeding Education class will meet on Monday, May 30 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. in the hospital's education centers. DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Municipal Swimming Pool is scheduled to open on Memorial Day for the 2011 swim season. Hours of operation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 PM. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. |
Prices for admission are $2 for daily admission ages 4 and up, $100 for a family pass, and $50 for an individual pass. Children 3 and under are free with a paying patron 14 years of age or older. The pool will remain open unless inclement weather such as air and / or water temperatures below 72 degrees or lighting necessitates closing or there are fewer than 10 swimmers using the pool. Red Cross Swimming Lessons will be offered in two sessions as in the past. Session 1 will run from June 20 through July 1. Session 2 will run from July 11 through July 22. The cost for lessons will be $20 per session. The pool will be available to rent for private parties after normal operating hours. Parties are limited to 1 hour and will include use of the pool, bathhouse and three lifeguards. All pool rules will be enforced during private parties. The rental fee is $75 for an unlimited number of swimmers. Water aerobics and lap swimming will be offered again this year. Please contact the pool for dates and cost. DID YOU KNOW The Clay Center Masonic Lodge #134 is holding a Child Identification Program at the Clay Center Carnegie Library 706 6th street in Clay Center, Kansas on June 4, 2011from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM? .The child identification kit will include a photo of the child and their digital fingerprints. There is no ink involved with the fingerprints. The law enforcement can use the photo with their equipment and be able to do an age enhancement of the photo, if the need arrives. There is a short movie clip with the child being interviewed. This can be used by law enforcement for voice comparison, etc. The parent will be supplied a cotton swab that they can use to capture a DNA sample. The kit also includes a place to report scars, birthmarks, health concerns, etc. All of this can be important should law enforcement have to use the disc to find a missing child. Law enforcement may need to know if the child needs medication while waiting to be returned to the parents. All this is placed on a CD that can be taken to the police station. The parents should be able to contact the child’s dentist and have them make a cd of dental x-rays for the kit as well. The kit can be downloaded on a computer flash drive and the parents could have the kit with them to take on a trip. For more information go to www.kschip.org
