DID YOU KNOW Clay Center Masonic Lodge No. 134 is holding a Child Identification Program The Clay Center Masonic Lodge #134 is holding a Child Identification Program at the Family Fun Night at the Clifton-Clyde Grade School  120 North Cloud St., Clifton Ks. from 6PM – 8PM on April 12. The child identification kit will include a photo of the child and their digital fingerprints. There is no ink involved with the fingerprints. The law enforcement can use the photo with their equipment and be able to do an age enhancement of the photo, if the need arrives.  There is a short movie clip with the child being interviewed. This can be used by law enforcement for voice comparison, etc. The parent will be supplied a cotton swab that they can use to capture a DNA sample. The kit also includes a place to report scars, birthmarks, health concerns, etc. All of this can be important should law enforcement have to use the disc to find a missing child. Law enforcement may need to know if the child needs medication while waiting to be returned to the parents. All this is placed on a CD that can be taken to the police station. The parents should be able to contact the child’s dentist and have them make a cd of dental x-rays for the kit as well. The kit can be downloaded on a computer flash drive and the parents could have the kit with them to take on a trip. For more information go to www.kschip.org This program is supported by the Missing & Exploited Children and the AMBER ALERT system.Questions that are being asked from past events are: Where do they place the CHIP?  There is no chip being placed on or in your child. Who gets the information that is placed on the computer?  The only person that receives any of the information given by the parent is the parent. The information is erased on the computer when we start the next child. The information is not stored on any hard drive. No one gets a copy of the child records but the parents. That is why the parent needs to ensure that they keep the disk in a safe place.  The only thing that is kept by the lodge is the permission slip. There is no age limit. Anyone that might be at risk or could benefit with the kit is encourage to come out and have one done. This can include the elderly or handicapped individuals. The kit is free. It only takes about 10 minutes per child/person to make a CHIP kit. For more information, contact: Jeffrey Hunter 785 447 2889

DID YOU KNOW Winnie Russel is participating in an Avon Walk for Breast cancer? The following is the information / letter she sent me. “I've     committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It's a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and         fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and I’m determined to do everything I can to help put an end to it.             The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need             it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I'll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a             marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people. This disease has affected my family in the past few       years and is now even more personal than it was before. I have not had it, but have had a lump removed that was a fibrous cist. When you don’t know        what the lump is the scare that it might be cancer is very real. The Avon Foundation also funds mammograms for those who can’t afford them, so when they             find a lump they don’t have to worry, “What if?”  We all know someone who has been affected with cancer; maybe if we find the cure for one type, the         others will not be far behind. I can't do it without your help. Though I'm required to raise at least $1,800 in donation, I plan to raise much more!
I hope that I can count on your support.  You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign on my web page, www.avonwalk.org/goto/winnierussell if            you prefer to write a check, just contact me at Wynette Russell 1416 McBratney Clay Center KS 67432 or 785-630-0919. THANKS FOR YOUR          HELP. And now a word from, my granddaughter, Bea. Hi, I am Beatrice I am Winnie's granddaughter, Breast Cancer is a cancer half women have        and some men can get. Now if you could just help donate money we could find a cure, but if we don't find a cure soon more women will die from it and        even some men that have it. The reason why we are trying so hard to find a cure is because we do not want any more people to die from it. There are walks            and other things you can do to make a difference in Breast Cancer. So if you could donate as much as you can this would help find a cure quicker.
Thank you, Beatrice  Yours Truly, Winnie Russell
