DID YOU KNOW The Clay County Appraiser’s Office is reminding you that the deadline for reporting Personal Property is March 15, 2011. The owners of personal property are required by law to list their property each year with the county appraiser. Examples of personal property are: Watercraft, golf carts, ATV’s or UTV’s, trailers (car, utility, stock, grain, horse, etc.) Antique tagged vehicles, Non-Highway vehicles, Off- road motorcycles, vehicles registered with a tag weight greater than 12M and Commercial Machinery & Equipment. Personal Property also includes all mobile homes that are not considered real estate, meaning the land that the mobile home sits on is owned by another individual. Remember to report all personal property on or before March 15, 2011 to avoid late filing penalties. Penalties are not subject to local abatement.

DID YOU KNOW There is a fundraiser for Sandy Stogsdill? “My name is Sandy Stogsdill, formerly Lund, and I grew up in the Green area.  I was a caregiver for the State of Kansas for eleven years.  My husband, Leonard and I have been married for 43 years now.  He is a disabled veteran.  I am sixty seven years old.  I have been on Medicare for eleven years, and as you know, it does not cover all your medical expenses.  I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in December 2010.  I have been to KU Medical Center, and I need surgery to remove my elopes.  Before the surgery can take place, I must take chemo and radiation treatments.  I have been in the hospital in Manhattan for several weeks.” A fundraiser is being planned for Sandy on Thursday, March 17 and Friday, March 18 from 11:00AM to 7:00PM . and on Saturday, March 19 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. at Ray’s Apple Market.  We will be serving Kretchmar hot dogs for $1.50 each.  There will also be an on-air auction on 100.9 FM KCLY on Friday, March 18 beginning at 1:00PM.  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Republican River Chapter #30307 is graciously providing $500 in matching funds. Anyone wishing to make a donation to Sandy is encouraged to send it to: Sandy Stogsdill, %United Bank & Trust, P. O. Box 514, Clay Center, Ks  67432-0514.  Anyone wishing to help with the fundraiser or donate items to the auction is encouraged to contact Linda Underwood at 785-632-0369 (cell) or 785-632-6233 (home) after 6:00 p.m. Please keep Sandy and her family in your prayers as she continues to battle this deadly disease, and please give this fundraiser your prayerful consideration.  Thanking you in advance for your participation, and looking forward to seeing you there.

DID YOU KNOW together we can help cancer patients? I am asking for your help. I am supporting the American Cancer Society in a different way this year. Instead of having a Relay For Life team I am participating in the 2011 American Cancer Society Shave To Save. The Shave To Save is a fundraiser for the ACS Hope Lodge. I stayed at the ACS Hope Lodge in Kansas City in 2004 when I was going through my cancer treatments. The ACS Hope Lodge is the only facility in the Kansas City metro area that provides free, temporary housing to patients and their caregivers for the duration of their treatments. Being a 2011 Shave To Save Shavee means I have signed up to raise money and to shave my head in May unless I raise $10,000, in which at that point I can opt out of shaving my head.

I need your help in reaching my $5,000 goal by May 2nd. There are a couple of different ways that you can help support me. You can go online at  www.shavetosave.org and click on “support a shavee” and type in Sue Affolter and donate that way or you can make a check out to The American Cancer Society and mail it in the self-addressed envelope I have enclosed for your convenience. Thank you for your support. I know you might be asking "why?" would I volunteer to have my head shaved, I am doing it to show support to cancer patients that don't have the choice whether or not to have their heads shaved and also to show my support to the ACS Hope Lodge by raising money so it will continue to be available for cancer patients. This is one way I can show the ACS how much this facility means to me. Hope Lodge and their staff played a huge role in my cancer journey, not sure what I would have done without it being available. Undergoing treatments for cancer can be financially and emotionally devastating and the ACS Hope Lodge of Kansas City allowed me to focus on what was most important

- fighting cancer. So please find it in your heart to help me with my goal so this facility remains available for cancer patients. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

Will you join me in this fight? Together we can help cancer patients. Thanks for your support. ~Sue Affolter 505 E. Parallel Street Clifton, KS 66937-9642
