NEW ITEMS for October:  

 

DID YOU KNOW  As a community service project our 8th graders at Clay Center Community Middle School are holding a breakfast for Veterans and any Active Duty Personnel? On Thursday, November 10th from 8:30AM – 10:00AM.  They will be serving biscuits and gravy, frozen fruit, juice and coffee.  They would like to extend a special invitation to you!  Soldiers or Veterans are welcome to come, eat and leave or to stay for awhile and visit with some of our students.

 

DID YOU KNOW Pinsetters Bowling Center is the perfect place to have your holiday party for your office, church group or family!  Pinsetters is now taking reservations for holiday parties. With bumper lanes, arcade games, darts, a juke box, multiple TVs and a bar and grill there is something for everyone. Reserve a few lanes or rent the entire Bowling Center for your event. We can provide bowling, snacks, food and drinks or any combination for your group. Call Teia at (785) 630-0708 for details and to make a reservation!

 

 

DID YOU KNOW The Clay Gourmet will be having their Christmas Open House? Stop by on Saturday, November 12 from 9:30AM - 5:00 PM and Sunday, November 13 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM.

 

DID YOU KNOW  Republican Valley Produce (RVP) is an online Farmers Market, the first of its kind in Clay Center. We offer fresh homegrown produce, meats, baked goods and jams and jellies. RVP is a group of farmers who are reaching out to those too busy to visit a Farmers Market or those who just like to sleep in on Saturdays.  You can order what you want and pick-up your items on Tuesday evenings in Clay Center or Wednesday evenings in Manhattan.  We sell winter hardy produce every week until Christmas and then every two weeks until May.  Check out our market at www.rvp.locallygrown.net  If you have any questions, email Jay Sleichter at jaysjellies@yahoo.com.

DID YOU KNOW United Bank & Trust will be displaying local photographer pictures from November 14 – 25, 2011.   The public is invited to stop by United Bank & Trust lobby during bank hours 8:30AM to 4:00PM Monday through Friday.

 

WEEKLY EVENTS/MEETINGS

 

DID YOU KNOW the Chamber of Commerce has a weekly community coffee?  They will meet on Wednesday mornings at 8:00AM.

DID YOU KNOW Rotary meets every Thursday at Noon? If you are interested in joining Rotary, contact any Rotarian.

DID YOU KNOW the Clay County Commission meets every Monday at 8:30AM?

 

DID YOU KNOW the Clay Center Lion’s Club meets every Tuesday at Noon?

 

DID YOU KNOW Weight Watchers meets every Tuesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church 1330 15th Street? Weigh in is between 5:30 – 6:00PM, the meeting starts at 6:00 and goes to 6:30. For new members there will be a short Getting Started session after the meeting.

 

 

DID YOU KNOW The Center Masonic Lodge 134 meet 1st and 3rd Wed. of each month. If anyone is interested in finding out more about joining or about the shrine they can contact Jeff at 785 447 2889

 

DID YOU KNOW Clay Center Order of Eastern Star meets on 2nd and 4th Monday. If you are a Master Mason Women can join if: a wife of a Master Mason, member of Rainbow, JOBS DAUGHTER, Sister, Sister-in-law, niece, daughter, step-daughter, grandmother, mother, mother-in-law, granddaughter or a aunt of a Master Mason. DID YOU KNOW the Rex Theatre will be showing “Jack And Jill” Rated PG  this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30? Adam Sandler pulls double duty as family man Jack and his overbearing twin sister, Jill, who settles in over the holidays for an extended stay. Her visit was supposed to be temporary ... but now it feels painfully permanent. Tickets are $5.

DID YOU KNOW there will be a blood drive November 18th? The Clay Center Blood Drive is Friday, November 18th, from 9:00AM-2:45PM at the National Guard Armory. Walk-in donors welcome, and you can visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS today to schedule and appointment.


DID YOU  KNOW Clay County Economic Development Group Open House Tuesday, November 22nd from 3:00 to 7:00pm at 517 Court, in Clay Center.  The public is invited to stop in and visit the CCEDG staff and board members to find out more about the many exciting projects the group is working on and how you and the community can benefit from their services.  Clay County Economic Development Group is a non-profit organization funded by business and individual memberships as well as by Clay County and the City of Clay Center. Hope to see you there.

 

DID YOU KNOW Incentives are available to qualified businesses based on the location of the facility, type of facility (manufacturing or non-manufacturing), capital investment made, and number of jobs created.  Some of these incentives expire December 31st, 2011.  If you are planning to expand your facility or purchase equipment that will create new jobs call the Clay County Economic Development office at 632-5974.

DID YOU KNOW, Employers with an available position may contact ACAP (Army Career Alumni Program) about the positions? ACAP will promote the positions by posting them at their center. Additionally, counselors will be informed of the position and et the information to Soldiers who are qualified candidates. To inform the ACAP office of available jobs, simply call 785-239-2278 or fax information to 785-239-2251.
