or 6:00PM -7:00PM. The trailer will be unloaded 9:30AM for any helper. C ream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese soup, applesauce, whole grain rotini, northern beans, and salmon will be distributed.
DID YOU KNOW there will be a fundraiser for Ashlee Johnston? A fundraiser has been planned for Ashlee at Kier’s Thriftway, 905 5th Street, Clay Center, KS on Thursday, Nov. 18th; Friday, Nov. 19th; & Saturday, Nov. 20th. We will be serving ham sandwiches for $1.50 each from 11:00AM to 7:00PM on Thursday & Friday, and from 11:00AM to 2:00PM on Saturday. There will also be an on-air auction on 100.9 FM KCLY on Friday, Nov. 19th beginning at 1:00 PM. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Republican River Chapter #30307 is graciously providing $718 in matching funds for this fundraiser.

DID YOU KNOW Parents as Teachers Play Group meet every Wednesday 9:30AM-11:00 at the District Gym on Prospect, behind CCCHS. All play groups are open to any family that has a child between 0-3 years old. Older siblings are also welcome. There will be no Play Group when school is not in session.

DID YOU KNOW there is a Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner, November 25, 2010 from 11:00AM-1:00PM at the First Presbyterian Church Clay Center, KS (602 Clarke St). Anyone in the community without special plans for Thanksgiving Dinner is invited to come enjoy turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy, vegetable, relish, roll and pie. For rides or if you need your meal delivered, call the Presbyterian Church office at 632-2813.
DID YOU KNOW Wakefield is having a FREE Community Thanksgiving dinner will be November 25th, at 11:00AM-1:00PM.Plan to go to the Madura church on Grove St. in Wakefield. Everyone welcome! Bring a pot luck dish and bring everyone to the church, lots of space, fellowship, no clean up, tons of food for everyone...Thanksgiving is a time of sharing, not for stress!
DID YOU KNOW VFW 7774 and Auxiliary is collecting donations to help put a wreath on every grave on Ft. Riley on December 11, 2010 at 11:00AM. That is the same day they lay the wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. Cost per wreath is $15, and there are 2500 graves that need wreaths. DID YOU KNOW you can come and experience the real story of Christmas at First Presbyterian Church (602 Clark Clay Center, KS) December 11 & 12 from 6:00PM-8:30PM. Walk through the streets of Bethlehem and along the way meet up with King Herod, shepherds on the hillside, camp with the Magi, tour the market place and as the journey ends take time to reflect on what Christmas really means at the manger of Jesus. Admission to the event is $1 or a canned good. All proceeds will go to the Lighthouse for Christ.

DID YOU KNOW End-of-year tax-free donations are being sought by Community Chamber Orchestra for its workshop and night concert with Yamaha artist, cellist, and composer Akua Dixon of New York City, being planned next spring in Morganville for Friday, May 27. Akua's amazing career, including Grammy awards and performances with jazz and Latin music greats, can be seen at www.akuadixon.com and www.jazzbows.com. Donations will benefit local musicians of all ages. Tom's Music in Concordia will be representing Yamaha, and Akua will perform and coach on a Yamaha electric cello. The workshop and night concert are both open to the public. Donations may be made directly to the Orchestra as advertising (see the new Paypal "donate" button on the website www.kansasmusic.net), or indirectly through the Clay County Arts Council (by sending them in care of Anne Clark, 454 23rd Rd., Morganville, KS 67468-9117). DEXTER PARK PLAYGROUND PROJECT INFORMATION:
DID YOU KNOW individuals or businesses can sponsor specific components in the park? The Dexter Park Fundraising Committee has released a brochure with all the available components in the park listed. You or your business could sponsor a Slide, Spring Toy, Sandbox, Tree House, Bridge, Swings, Tic Tac Toe or a variety of other components. Ranging in price from $500 - $5,000 these components will be sold on a first come first served basis – so you must act quickly! Several components have already been sold! Please stop by the Information Center at 517 Court, or call 632-5974 for more information about components. There are a total of 60 components available and 23 have already been spoken for.
DID YOU KNOW The Dexter Park Playground Project has raised OVER $115,924.65 with $15,200 more pledged (total of over $131,000.00) and lots more pickets to sell. (We have sold 120 pickets to date). If you would like to donate to the Dexter Park Playground Project – your tax deductible donations can be made payable to CCCIF and mailed to 517 Court; Clay Center, KS 67432. Check out the website at www.ccplayground.homestead.com for more information and to download a donation/picket form! We are also looking for volunteers to help in any area of the project! (Fundraising, PR, Food, Child Care, Building, etc.) The Build Dates have been set for April 27 – May 1, 2011!
DID YOU KNOW that the Dexter Park Playground committee is selling pickets? The Dexter Park Playground Committee is selling pickets for the playground projects. The pickets will make up a fenced in area around the playground equipment. The pickets cost $50 and can be personalized with up to 18 characters per picket. The pickets are made of a plastic composite type material that should last a lifetime! If you would like to purchase a picket to support this community wide project, please stop by the Information Center at 517 Court. (A sample of the picket is on display at the Information Center!)
