NEW ITEMS for November DID YOU KNOW Clay County Medical Center's Stroke Support Group will meet on Tuesday, November 15 from 10:00AM – 11:00AM in the hospital’s education centers. Survivors of stroke, family members and friends are welcomed to attend along with all interested persons. For more information call Brenda Bohnenblust at 785-632-2144. DID YOU KNOW Clay County Medical Center's Lunch Bunch will meet on Wednesday, November 16 at noon in the hospital's education centers. Guest speaker will be Dawn Phelps, BSN, LMSW. Dawn’s topic will be “When Life Gives You Lemons”. Dawn works for Meadowlark Hospice and teaches at Cloud County Community College. Lunch is $5 and reservations are required by calling the Mark A. Chapman Wellness Center at 785-632-3929, ext. 427. Also a reminder – CCCHS Tiger Chorale will be entertaining Lunch Bunch on December 21 at noon. Seats are limited so sign up early! DID YOU KNOW The State Library of Kansas, the Kansas Center for the Book and Clay Center Carnegie Library proudly announces Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Kansas author Bill Martin, Jr., as the selection for the seventh annual Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week. Kansas First Lady Mary Brownback will serve as honorary chair for the special week, Nov. 13-19, 2011. Clay Center Carnegie Library will celebrate the week with the following event: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Storytime for ages 0-6 on Thursday, November 17th at 10:00AM. This special storytime will feature a reading of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and other stories, a craft, and a snack. DID YOU KNOW there will be a blood drive November 18th? The Clay Center Blood Drive is Friday, November 18th, from 9:00AM-2:45PM at the National Guard Armory. He originally performed his services in Manhattan with Charles Faulk, a piano tuner there (who used to do tuning in Clay Center, but is not going out of town anymore) and comes highly recommended by this person. We offer fresh homegrown produce, meats, baked goods and jams and jellies. RVP is a group of farmers who are reaching out to those too busy to visit a Farmers Market or those who just like to sleep in on Saturdays. You can order what you want and pick-up your items on Tuesday evenings in Clay Center or Wednesday evenings in Manhattan. We sell winter hardy produce every week until Christmas and then every two weeks until May. DID YOU KNOW Volunteers for the Friends of the Clay Center Library are baking up all sorts of delicious treats in preparation for their 4th Annual Holiday Cookie & Candy Sale on Saturday, December 3rd from 9:30 AM until 12:30PM at the Clay Center Carnegie Library community room. Homemade goodies will be sold for $5.00 per pound with all proceeds benefiting the Friends organization. This irresistible fundraiser is to raise money for ongoing library needs including children’s and adult programming, updating equipment and furnishings, and enhancing the library’s collection." Some of these incentives expire December 31st, 2011.
