Oak Hill
The city of Oak Hill, established in 1866, was originally a settlement in Oakland Township. A small store was opened in the house of a settler. He named the store Oak Hill. This settler was also the first postmaster of Oak Hill. The Santa Fe railroad was built in 1887. During the railroad days, Oak Hill serviced a freight, cattle and passenger train.
Oak Hill was incorporated in 1925 and has a Mayor-Council form of government. A new city hall was built in 2002. Located nearby is Harder Park with picnic facilities and playground equipment.
